Prelude: “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” Barr “Blessed Jesus, At Your Word” Hovland Welcome and Announcements Silent Prayer and Preparation * Call to Worship: Psalm 86 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. * Hymn: PH 555 “Lead On, O King Eternal” Lancashire * God’s Greeting: Grace and peace to you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Blessed be God, And blessed is his kingdom, now and forever. Amen. * Prayer of the Day: Equip us, O God, for the spiritual conflict with your own armor; with the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit, the helmet of salvation, the girdle of truth, and the breastplate of righteousness, so that we may be able to stand in the day of evil; and grant that our feet may be fitted with the gospel of peace, in order to stand our ground unflinching to the end, through the power of Jesus Christ, the champion of our salvation. Amen. * Response: “We Will Glorify”
Confession And Prayer Prayer of Confession: Eternal God our Father, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed. We ask that you forgive our sins through Christ Jesus our Lord. May your forgiveness make us willing to forgive all wrong we have suffered and to seek mercy for every wrong we have done. Give to us a contrite and broken heart and restore our souls so that we may be merciful even as you have been merciful unto us. And may we walk in the newness of life that you have imparted to us so that we may live in a manner worthy of your kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. People of God, what is your only comfort in life and in death? A. That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way, that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life, and makes me whole-heartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
