Preparation And Praise

Upon entering the sanctuary please maintain silence for the sake of the congregation’s preparation for worship.

   Prelude:      “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”    Nelhybel/Walther

   Welcome and Announcements:     Silent Prayer and Preparation

*  Call to Worship:                                                  Psalm 111

I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.  Great are the works of the Lord; glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.

He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.  He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is his name.

* Hymn:  PH 48              “Great Is the Lord Our God”      Diademata

* God’s Greeting:

Grace and peace to you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth.

Blessed be God,

And blessed is his kingdom, now and forever.  Amen.

*  Prayer of the Day:

Grant, O Lord our God, that the words which we hear today with our ears, may be so grafted within our hearts, through the working of the Holy Spirit, that they might produce in us faith, hope, and especially love, to the honor and praise of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

*  Response:   PH 635                “Gloria Patri”                 Meineke

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost,

as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.  Amen, amen.

Confession And Prayer

   Prayer of Confession:

We confess to you, Almighty God, that we have grievously sinned in thought, word, and deed. Grant to us a contrite heart and forgive us for all our sins through our Savior Jesus Christ.  Restore our soul that we may be merciful and kind, even as you are. Let your forgiveness make us willing to forgive all wrong which we have suffered, and to ask forgiveness for every wrong which we have done. Give to us also, we pray, a spirit of humility and gentleness in all that we do. Let our love and kindness be as abundant as our joy, so that we may be generous to all in need, and that we might give of ourselves freely for your name’s sake. And may we, being rooted and grounded in the mystery of the Son of God being made flesh for us, receive power to overcome the world and live in obedience to your will, through the same Lord Jesus.

Silent Prayer and Confession

Minister: Amen.

   Assurance of Pardon:                                           Psalm 130

   Response:  “As the Deer”

As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after you.

You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship you.

Refrain: You alone are my strength, my shield.

            To you alone may my spirit yield.

            You alone are my heart’s desire,

            and I long to worship you.

I want you more than gold or silver; only you can satisfy.

You alone are the real joy giver and the apple of my eye.  Refrain
