   Welcome and Announcements

   Silent Prayer and Preparation

*  Call to Worship:                                                      Micah 7

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?  You do not stay angry forever, but delight to show mercy.

You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.  You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our fathers in days long ago.

* Hymn:  PH 8  “Lord, Our Lord, Your Glorious Name” Evening Praise

* God’s Greeting:

        Grace and peace to you in the name of the Father and of the

        Son and of the Holy Spirit.

                                                                                 Amen.

        The Lord be with you.

                                                               And also with you.

        Our help is in the name of the Lord,

                                             Who made heaven and earth.

        Blessed be God,

           And blessed is his kingdom, now and forever.  Amen.

*  Prayer of the Day:

Almighty God, whose Son was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan, come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations, and, as you know the weakness of each one of us, may we find you mighty to save, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

*  Response:  PH 428, stanza 5      “O Worship the King”     Lyons

O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,

whom angels delight to worship above!

Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,

in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

Confession And Prayer

   Call to Confession:  PH 1016     Responsive Reading of the Law

   Prayer of Confession:

Most merciful God, we confess to you that we are by nature sinful and unclean, and that we have disobeyed you in thought, word, and action; in outward transgressions and in secret desires and motives that we are ashamed to acknowledge. For this reason, we seek refuge in your infinite mercy and pray that you would be gracious to us and turn from us those punishments which we by our sins have deserved. Forgive us, renew us, and direct our way, so that we may delight in your will and walk according to your truth, to the glory of your holy name.
