    Welcome and Announcements:

    Silent Prayer and Preparation

*  Call to Worship:                                                                                                 Psalm 96

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.  Sing to the Lord and bless his name; proclaim good tidings of his salvation from day to day.

Tell of his glory among the nations, his wonderful deeds among all peoples.  For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.  Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

*  Hymn:  Insert        “Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds”           Lasst Uns Erfreuen

*  God’s Greeting:

Grace and peace to you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

    Amen.

The Lord be with you.

    And also with you.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

    Who made heaven and earth.

Blessed be God,

    And blessed is his kingdom, now and forever.  Amen.

*  Prayer of the Day:

Lord God our Father, who by the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light, grant that we, who have been raised to newness of life in him, may abide in his presence and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be dominion and praise forever and ever.   Amen.

*  Response:   “Alleluia!  Alleluia!”                                                                        Ode to Joy

Alleluia, Alleluia! Glory be to God on high,

Alleluia! to the Savior, who has won the victory;

Alleluia to the Spirit, fount of love and sanctity:

Alleluia, alleluia! to the triune Majesty.

 Confession and Prayer

    Prayer of Confession:

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.  We have followed too often the devices and desires of our own hearts, and have transgressed your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done, and there is no health in us.  O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those who confess their sins. Restore those who are repentant, according to you promises declared unto us in Christ Jesus. Grant that we may live a godly, righteous and holy life to the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.     Silent Prayer and Confession

Minister: Amen.

    Assurance of Pardon:                                                                                     Psalm 103

    Response:     “In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone my hope is found, he is my light, my strength, my song;

This cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My comforter, my all in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone!—who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe!

This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones he came to save:

Till on that cross as Jesus dies; the wrath of God was satisfied

For every sin on him was laid:  here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground his body lay, light of the world by darkness slain:

Then bursting forth in glorious day up from the grave he rose again!

And as he stands in victory sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,

For I am his and he is mine—bought with the precious blood of Christ.

The Service Of The Word

*  Hymn:  PH 396                “Low in the Grave Christ Lay                               Christ Arose

*  Confession of Faith:                                          Martin Luther, The Small Catechism

I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death, that I may be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, even as he is risen from the dead, and lives and reigns to all eternity.  This is most certainly true.
