Confession and Prayer Prayer of Confession: Most merciful God, we confess to you that we are by nature sinful and unclean, and that we have disobeyed you in thought, word and deed; and not only in outward transgressions, but also in secret thoughts and desires that we are ashamed to acknowledge, but which are known to you. For this reason we seek refuge in your infinite mercy and pray that you would be gracious to us, and turn from us those punishments which we by our sins have deserved.
