Confession and Prayer

    Prayer of Confession:

O great and everlasting God, who searches and knows the thoughts and intentions of our hearts, we confess that we have not loved you with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have loved what we ought not to have loved and have coveted what is not ours. We have complained in our hearts about our family, our friends, our health, our occupations, our trials, and about your church. We have sought security in the things which perish rather than in you, the everlasting God. Forgive us for our sins and remove from us all that dims the brightness of your glory, through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Silent Prayer and Confession          Minister: Amen.

    Assurance of Pardon:                                                                                     Psalm 103

    Anthem:  Grades 1-8

“Listening for the Call”                                                                     Pote

Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen.

God is calling us each by name to follow, follow, follow, follow, follow.

Follow the Lord and light the flame.

Hearing the call I will answer; I will serve with all my heart.

With God’s help I will try my best to always do my part.

I will use the gifts God has given me whether they be great or small.

I will touch the lives of others by standing straight and tall.

Who will be a witness?  Who will be a witness?  Who will be a witness?

I will be a witness, making a difference in the way I live,

And the good in the world will increase.

    Anthems:  Grades 3 – 4

“Jesus Walked This Lonesome Valley”                                Spiritual

Jesus walked this lonesome valley,

He had to walk it by Himself,

Oh nobody else could walk it for Him,

He had to walk it by Himself.

I must walk this this lonesome valley,

Oh I must walk it by myself,

Oh nobody else can walk it for me,

I have to walk it by myself.

“Come One, Come All, Come Follow”                                  Dietterich

Come one, come all, come follow the call,

Of Jesus Christ, the Lord of all,

He’ll teach you to walk, He’ll teach you to talk,

To share in his love ev’ry day.

Come one, come all, come follow the call,

Of Jesus Christ, the Lord of all,

He’ll teach you to work, He’ll teach you to play,

To share in his love ev’ry day.

Come one, come all, come follow the call,

Come one, come all, come follow the call,

To share in his love ev’ry day.

Come one, come all, come follow.

“Now Paul, He Was a Servant”                                               Brazzeal

Now Paul, he was a servant, a servant of the Lord,

Was shipwrecked three days, even threatened with the sword,

Spent nights in a prison for preaching of the Lord;

But through it all he learned:

When I am weak, my God is strong,

Even when times get tough,

Protecting, guiding all along.

His grace is more, more than enough.

Now Paul, he suffered so much so others could believe,

Like thirty-nine lashes five times he did receive.

A day and a night he spent floating in the sea;

But through it all he learned:

When I am weak, my God is strong,

Even when times get tough,

Protecting, guiding all along.

His grace is more, more than enough.

Now Paul, he traveled often; at times he had no food.

In one certain city was beaten, stoned and booed.

Though sleepless and tired, it did not change his mood;

But through it all he learned:

When I am weak, my God is strong,

Even when times get tough,

Protecting, guiding all along.

His grace is more, more than enough.

Now we, like Paul, are servants, are servants of the Lord.

We fight our own battles, tho’ not with whips and swords,

Enduring our trials by trusting in the Lord;

And through it all we learn:

When we are weak, our God is strong,

Even when times get tough,

Protecting, guiding all along

His grace is more, more than enough.

More than enough, more than enough.

“Called By the Spirit”                                                                  Horman

God’s Spirit called up prophets to speak to Israel:

Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel!

God’s Spirit called up prophets to speak to Israel:

Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel!

The Spirit called me as a boy and said,

“Go find a yoke, a pair of shorts, a pot to break.

My son, this is no joke!

Show people what will happen when they trun away from me.

Their good names will be ruined and they’ll lose their liberty.”

God’s Spirit called up prophets to speak to Israel:

Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel!

God’s Spirit called up prophets to speak to Israel:

Elijah, Jeremiah, Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel!

The people wouldn’t listen, but we never gave up hope.

The Spirit has no patience with those who sit and more.

“Keep talking,” said the Spirit, “Promise them a brand new heart,

A spirit deep inside them, and a fresh new start.”

God’s Spirit called up prophets to speak to Israel:

Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel!

God’s Spirit called up prophets to speak to Israel:

Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel!

Alleluia!  Amen!  Amen! Amen!

Alleluia!  Amen!  Amen! Amen!
