Fairlawn’s 50th Anniversary Year Generations Glorifying God: Grace, Gather, Grow January 27, 2008 6:00 P.M. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Prelude: “Beautiful Savior” “My God, How Wonderful You Are” “Holy God, We Praise Your Name” Nelhybel * Call to Worship: Let us worship God, our light and our salvation. The Lord is the stronghold of our lives. I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” We have come with shouts of joy, to sing and to make music to the Lord. Teach us your ways and make straight our paths in this hour of worship and always. Praise the Lord! * Hymn: Insert “God, We Sing Your Glorious Praises” Nettleton * Opening Prayer: O God, our Father, you seek men and women, boys and girls, who will worship you in spirit and in truth; and so we ask you to inspire and bless this worship service in this your church through our words and music, prayers and hymns. Open the hearts and lips of those who worship you here tonight, that all of us may be blessed by your continual grace. We ask this in the name of him through whom alone our worship is acceptable to you: our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. * Statement of Faith: I am called Christian because by faith I am a member of Christ and so I share in his anointing. I am anointed to confess his name, to present myself to him as a living sacrifice of thanks, to strive with a good conscience against sin and the devil in this life, and afterward to reign with Christ over all creation for all eternity. We call him “our Lord” because—not with gold or silver, but with his precious blood—he has set us free from sin and from the tyranny of the devil, and has bought us, body and soul, to be his very own. Elementary Choir: Church School Favorite Songs Medley: “The Music of God’s Family” Responsive Reading: God makes the sun rise and set. He is faithful from generation to generation. God makes summer and winter come and go. He is faithful from generation to generation. God helps plants grow and flowers bloom. He is faithful from generation to generation. God gives us food to eat, places to live, and people to love us. He is faithful from generation to generation. God is always with us. He is faithful from generation to generation. God gives us his grace, gathers us together, and helps us grow. He is faithful from generation to generation. Let us praise our faithful God!
