*  Call to Worship:                                                                                                     Psalm 96

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord ,all the earth.  Sing to the Lord and bless his name; proclaim good tidings of his salvation from day to day.

Tell of his glory among the nations, his wonderful deeds among all peoples.  For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.  Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Grace and peace be to you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord be with you.

    And also with you.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

    Who made heaven and earth.

Blessed be God,

    And blessed is his kingdom, now and forever.  Amen.

*  Prayer of the Day:

Almighty God, you know that we have no ability in ourselves to help ourselves.  Keep us, we pray, both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to our bodies, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and wound our souls, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

*  Response:  PH 561, stanza 5               “Rejoice, O Pure in Heart”                       Marion

Praise God, who reigns on high, the Lord whom we adore:

the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, one God forevermore.

Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, give thanks, and sing!

Confession and Prayer

    Prayer of Confession:

Almighty God, who is rich in mercy to all those who call upon you, hear us as we come humbly confessing our sins and seeking your grace and forgiveness. We have broken your holy laws by our actions and choices, by our words and by the sinful affections of our own hearts. We confess before you our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and stubbornness, and our neglect of your will for our lives. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father, and grant that we, through your great goodness, may serve and please you in newness of life, through the merit and intercession of Jesus Christ our Lord.
