Preparation And Praise

Upon entering the sanctuary please maintain silence and turn off all electronic devices

 for the sake of the congregation’s preparation for worship.

    Prelude:  “God Will Make a Way”                                                                        arr. Doran

    Welcome and Announcements

    Silent Prayer and Preparation

*  Call to Worship:                                                                                                     Psalm 47

God has ascended with shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.  God reigns over nations, for the kings of the earth belong to him; sing praises to his name.

*  Hymn:  Insert, stanzas 1-4           “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”               Diadem

*  God’s Greeting:

Grace and peace be to you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

    Amen.

The Lord be with you.

    And also with you.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

    Who made heaven and earth.

Blessed be God,

    And blessed is his kingdom, now and forever.  Amen.

*  Prayer of the Day:

Lord Jesus Christ, you have entered into your glory by the cross and resurrection from the grave. You have been exalted to the right hand of the Majesty on high and all authority is given you in heaven and on earth. We acknowledge your sovereignty over every realm of life. As you establish your kingdom, we pray that you will subdue our hearts by your love, for as yours is the kingdom, so yours is the power and the glory for ever and ever.  Amen.

*  Response:  Inset, stanza 5            “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”             Diadem

O that with yonder sacred throng

we at his feet may fall, we at his feet may fall!

We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown him, crown him,

crown him, crown him and crown him Lord of all!

Confession and Prayer

    Prayer of Confession:

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.  We have followed too often the devices and desires of our own hearts and have transgressed your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done, and there is no health in us.  O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those who confess their sins. Restore those who are repentant, according to your promises declared unto us in Christ Jesus. Grant that we may live a godly, righteous and holy life to the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.

Silent Prayer and Confession

Minister: Amen.

   Assurance of Pardon:                                                                                              I John 2

    Choral Anthem:  “Blest God All Glorious”                                                  arr. Cherwien

(The congregation is asked to join with the choir in singing the third and fifth verses of the anthem.)

            Verse 3:         Great Reconciler, Source of unity,

By your body broken, Teach us charity.

Break the walls that seal us, Barring life from life.

Make us one and heal us From all hate and strife.

Great Reconciler, Source of unity,

By your body broken, Teach us charity.

Verse 5:         We are your body, You our living Head,

Over all victorious, Risen from the dead.

Hold your cross before us, Arm us with your Word.

Give your vision glorious:  Earth and heaven’s restored.

We are your body, You, our living Head,

Over all victorious, Risen from the dead.

    THE WORDS OF INSTITUTION

    PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

              Heavenly Father, show forth among us the presence of your life-giving Word and Holy Spirit, to sanctify us and your whole church through this sacrament. Grant that all who share the body and blood of our Savior Jesus Christ may be one in him, and remain faithful in love and hope. And as this grain has been gathered from many fields into one loaf, and these grapes from many hills into one cup, grant, O Lord, that your whole church may soon be gathered from the ends of the earth into your kingdom. Now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we pray:

                Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

   THE INVITATION TO THE TABLE

    THE DEDICATORY PRAYER

              We do not presume to come to this your table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your great and manifold mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, whose nature it is to always have mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us. Amen.

THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE BREAD AND WINE

Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us.

Therefore let us keep the feast.  Alleluia!

The gifts of God for the people of God.

(Please hold each element until all have been served.

The outer ring holds wine; the inner rings, grape juice.)

    THE THANKSGIVING

Congregation in Christ, since the Lord has fed us at his table, let us praise his holy name with thanksgiving.

          Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.

Blessing and Dismissal

*  Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you.  May the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you.  May the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you and give you peace.  Amen.

*  Response:                        “Crown Him with Many Crowns”                                Diademata

Crown him the Lord of heaven, enthroned in worlds above;

Crown him the King to whom is given the wondrous name of Love.

Crown him with many crowns, as thrones before him fall;

Crown him, ye kings, with many crowns, for he is King of all.

    Postlude:  “All Hail, King Jesus”                                                                               Moody
